You can spend months choosing a venue, creating a guest list, planning a ceremony, and preparing for one incredibly important day. But the marriage begins after everyone goes home. And it lasts, hopefully, for the rest of your life. Yet, few people spend the time to secure a strong foundation.
Our 12-week Premarital Program gives couples dedicated time to focus on the relationship they're building, not because something is wrong, but because the relationship is important enough to be intentional about. This isn't about determining whether you're "compatible" or giving you a checklist for a successful marriage. It's about understanding yourselves, understanding each other, having conversations that are sometimes easy to postpone, and building a strong foundation for the life you're choosing together.
There are plenty of books, courses, and assessments that can tell you what couples should talk about before getting married. We want to go deeper. Our program combines the structure of a 12-week premarital course with the individualized experience of therapy. We'll explore important topics each week, but the conversation will always come back to your relationship.
How do the two of you handle conflict?
What happens when one person needs connection and the other needs space?
What did each of you learn about marriage growing up?
How do you approach money, intimacy, family, responsibilities, parenting, and the future?
Where are you already strong?
And where might you want to become more intentional before those differences become patterns?
Every couple develops a dance.
One person moves closer. The other needs space.
One wants to solve the problem immediately. The other needs time to think.
One expresses emotion openly. The other processes internally.
Neither way is inherently right or wrong.
But when couples don't understand the pattern between them, differences can begin feeling personal.
Premarital therapy gives you an opportunity to recognize your cycle early, before years of frustration, assumptions, and hurt become layered on top of it. The goal isn't to never get stuck. It's to learn how to recognize when you're stuck and know how to find your way back to each other.
Even when two people are creating a completely new life together, neither arrives without a history. We each bring experiences from the families and relationships that shaped us.
Ideas about money. Conflict. Affection. Gender roles. Parenting. Religion and traditions. Privacy. Boundaries. How holidays should work. Even what "normal" looks like. We'll explore the family systems you each came from, not to criticize them, but to understand what you've learned from them.
Then you get to decide together:
What do we want to carry forward into our family, and what do we want to do differently?
Each week provides a focus for the conversation while leaving room to explore what the topic means specifically for your relationship. The first and last session are 2-hours long. The ten sessions in between are 90 minutes long.
The program covers the following 12 topics:
Premarital therapy shouldn't feel like someone is evaluating whether you should get married. We're not looking for reasons your relationship won't work. We're becoming curious about the relationship you already have. There may be differences between you. That's expected. The important question isn't whether you disagree. It's whether you can understand your differences, talk about them honestly, navigate them respectfully, and remain connected when agreement doesn't come easily. Sometimes the most valuable premarital conversation isn't the one where you discover you're on the same page. It's the one where you realize you're not—and learn how to talk about it.
The Premarital Therapy Program consists of 12 structured sessions, typically completed weekly. Each session focuses on a specific aspect of building a healthy marriage while allowing enough flexibility to spend additional time on areas that are particularly important to you. The first and last session are 2-hours. The ten sessions in between are 90 minutes long.
Because this is a therapeutic program rather than a generic course, your conversations aren't limited to worksheets and education. When something meaningful comes up, we'll slow down and work with what's happening between you.
Some weeks may feel educational.
Some may lead to conversations you've never had before.
Some may reveal strengths you didn't realize your relationship already had.
And some may give you language for things you've struggled to explain to one another.
That's exactly what the program is designed to do.
Our Premarital Therapy Program is a self-pay service and is not billed to insurance. Health insurance generally exists to cover medically necessary treatment associated with covered health conditions. Premarital work is different: couples are choosing to invest proactively in their relationship rather than seeking treatment based on medical necessity. Keeping the program self-pay also allows us to structure the work around the relationship and the goals of the program rather than around insurance requirements.
Payment for the program is due, in full, prior to beginning your program.
Marriage will teach you plenty. But you don't have to learn everything the hard way. These 12 weeks are an opportunity to become more curious about the person you've chosen, understand the relationship you're creating, and intentionally talk about the life you want to build before you're in the middle of living it.
You're already planning your wedding.
Let's spend some time planning your marriage.
